Online Store Shakes Up the Analog Film Market
Analog film aficionado Valentin Thalmann and [COLLECTIVE] are launching the online platform Analogikum. Their goal: to revolutionize the tedious, multi-step process of buying and developing analog film with an all-in-one solution. The store is set to go live in March 2024.
At the beginning of 2024, the journey of another venture project begins. Valentin Thalmann laments how complicated analog photography has become in Switzerland — limited store hours, a lack of expert advice online, and the absence of a reliable online development service make the passion far more cumbersome than it should be. His answer to the problem: Analogikum — a store designed to make analog photography simple again.
The online store offers a wide, curated selection of premium films, each accompanied by detailed descriptions, reviews, and sample images. This makes choosing the right film easier than with most competitors. Before checkout, customers can also add film development to their order. Within three business days, the film arrives with a prepaid return envelope. Once the roll is full, it’s sent back — and just two business days later, the developed, high-resolution images land in the customer’s inbox.
Even before its launch, the store has sparked widespread enthusiasm within the analog photography community. Analogikum is set to go live in March 2024, accompanied by a campaign that combines digital advertising with physical events and guerrilla-style activations.
